Aveiro
Aveiro: urban canals, lagoon and São Jacinto dunes
Aveiro connects its urban centre with lagoon canals and a landscape of salt pans and sheltered waters. Art Nouveau façades stand beside the Canal Central; at São Jacinto, the municipality includes the strip of sand and dunes separating the lagoon from the Atlantic.
Canals and the Beira Mar quarter
The Canal Central and Canal de São Roque help explain the city's layout. The Beira Mar quarter retains its connection with the fishing community.
São Jacinto between lagoon and ocean
São Jacinto occupies the coastal strip beside the lagoon entrance. Its beach and dunes contrast with the canals and built waterfront of central Aveiro.
