Cantanhede
Cantanhede: Gândara and Bairrada
Cantanhede combines three landscapes: coastal Gândara, vineyard-covered Bairrada and the lower Mondego valley. This diversity connects beaches and woodland with cultivated slopes, limestone quarries and wetter fields on the valley floor.
Gândara and Bairrada
In Gândara, sandy beaches, woodland and maize fields approach the sea. Inland, vineyards are a distinctive feature of Bairrada’s slopes.
Ançã stone
The Ançã quarries create steep rocky terrain before the lower Mondego fields, where a fertile, wet valley opens out.
