Montijo: urban shore and rural territory
Montijo has two separate parts: the urban west beside the Tagus and the rural east of Canha and Pegões.
The relationship with the estuary
The heritage of the mills recalls activities powered by water and wind. Moinho do Cais forms part of this productive history along the Tagus shore.
Canha and Pegões
The eastern part of the municipality brings together Canha and Pegões in rural surroundings, contrasting with the greater urban concentration of western Montijo.
