Murtosa: Torreira’s coastal barrier
Murtosa has a direct relationship with both Ria de Aveiro and the Atlantic. At Torreira, the coastal barrier separates the two waters, placing the open-ocean beach close to the lagoon’s more sheltered shores.

Torreira beach is surrounded by dunes and occupies the sandy strip separating the lagoon from the ocean.

The short distance between sea and lagoon reveals contrasting settings: Atlantic waves on one side and more sheltered lagoon waters on the other.
