Vila Real
Vila Real: a city between rivers and mountain landscapes
Vila Real stands on a plateau near the meeting of the Corgo and Cabril rivers, in a territory framed by the Alvão and Marão mountains. To the south, terraced vineyards introduce the Douro landscape; houses with coats of arms remain within the city.
Corgo and Cabril
The two rivers help define the city's setting. In the Corgo valley, routes follow hillsides, watercourses and the alignment of the former railway line.
Mountains and vineyards
The municipality combines mountain areas with agricultural landscapes. Terraced vineyards are prominent in the south, while the Alvão mountains frame the territory to the northwest.
