Cartaxo is getting a new Municipal Master Plan (PDM) — the first major revision since 1998.
It is not a touch-up: it is an entirely new plan. It grows from 67 to 98 articles and replaces the old “space classes” with a clear distinction between urban land and rural land.
Over the coming days we will explain, in plain language and topic by topic, what changes for those who live, build or invest in the municipality.
The essentials, for now:
- First major update of the Master Plan since 1998.
- From 67 to 98 articles — an entirely new plan, not a minor revision.
- End of the old “space classes”: a clear classification between urban land and rural land.
- Approved by the Municipal Council on 24 June 2026.
- It enters into force after approval by the Municipal Assembly and publication in the Diário da República. Until then, the 1998 plan remains in force.
