Avenida dos Descobrimentos offers views of the town's profile and marina. The walls and Forte da Ponta da Bandeira recall the history of coastal defence.
Two coastal forms
Meia Praia extends eastwards, while Camilo and Ponta da Piedade feature small beaches, deeply indented cliffs and caves shaped by the action of the sea.
