Lagoa
Lagoa: settlements and cliff-framed coves
Lagoa's coast alternates small coves with deeply indented cliffs and formations carved by the sea. At Carvoeiro, houses meet the beach directly; further inland, Lagoa and Porches add the former Convento do Espírito Santo and a pottery tradition to this varied municipal landscape.
Carvoeiro's houses
Small white houses occupy the ground beside the cliff and beach. The continuity between settlement and sand distinguishes the urban form of this former fishing village.
Vale de Centeanes cliffs
Vale de Centeanes cove lies between golden cliffs with indentations and caves. The change in level is apparent in the stairway leading down to the sand.
